Stress is a physical, mental, or emotional process that initiates the "fight or flight" response. This response involves a complex combination of neurological, physiological, and chemical responses. There is often an external component of stress (a stressor from the environment or situation) and an internal component of stress (one's subjective response to the stressor). In the right amount, stress can be a healthy source of motivation and focus. Stress can also be unhealthy if it becomes overwhelming.

Set firm boundaries. Either you can say she can complain for X number of minutes and no more, you change the subject or let her go to voicemail, she can leave as many as she wants and you don’t have to listen, you can delete them.
