About Gay Lee Schumann

As a therapist, my greatest mission is to help you reach your goals. Although choosing to go to counseling can be a difficult decision, it can result in feeling safe, heard, validated while being motivated, challenged, and encouraged to meet your own goals! I utilize a cognitive-based therapy known as Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Many clients who come to therapy feel as if their emotions are in the driver's seat of their lives and that they are passengers on life's journey. However, REBT provides clients with an opportunity to put themselves back in the driver's seat of their lives. As needed, I can also include other modalities such as other cognitive-based approaches, as well as person-centered and solution-focused methods. I have noticed that, when engaged in the therapeutic process with clients, I enjoy keeping the process client-centered by offering my clients multiple options, empowering homework activities, and brainstorming possible solutions.
